The Right Person…

There is a saying that every nice piece of work needs the right person in the right place at the right time.

As we are well into 2017 and heading to 2018 the focus on digital HR to enhance our people processes is becoming ever more topical. Every single day an unsolicited approach for ‘the next best technology intervention to hit HR’ lands into our Inbox. So how do we do it right? You need a roadmap!

As we are well into 2017 and heading to 2018 the focus on digital HR to enhance our people processes is becoming ever more topical. Every single day an unsolicited approach from implementation vendors purporting that they are your ‘strategic partner’ to help you navigate the digital HR landscape, lands into our Inbox. So how do you make the right choice?

You need the right person in the right place at the right time

The “right person” to help you with your SAP SuccessFactors implementation can significantly impact the overall outcome of your project. Luckily, in the SAP SuccessFactors ecosystem, there are many implementation partners to choose from.

But you need to find that right person wherever you need them and to be there whenever you need as well. Being able to actually filter the many possible vendors to those who are “the right person in the right place at the right time” isn’t easy. But recently, solution architect and author Permanand Singh provides a suggested methodology in his new book, Implementing SAP SuccessFactors – A Client-centered approach. In this book, the authors provide key criteria and suggested approach for selecting your implementation partner.

Selection criteria

There are several areas in which a vendor should be evaluated and rated. Your procurement team may have other criteria they want to include. For example, they might prefer to have Financials – included as a separate category (instead of it being part of the stability category as listed below).

  • Cost
  • Experience
  • Full Service Capabilities
  • Stability
  • Years in existence as a company
  • Number of years implementing SAP SuccessFactors
  • Financial strength
  • Consultant and leadership turnover rate
  • Partnership
  • Culture and Fit
  • Post Go-Live Support Services
  • References

The Decision Matrix

To make the partner selection a structured process, the authors highly recommend using a decision matrix. And when creating your own decision matrix, you want to specify the selection criteria, rating scale, which vendors will be evaluated, and the members of the internal evaluation team.

Right person in the right place at the right time

Using a structured process with the correct evaluation criteria to evaluate and select the right implementation partner will significantly increase the possibility of a successful project. Of course, we hope AKT succeeds to be top of your evaluation matrix. Either way, we wish you a successful SAP SuccessFactors implementation and one that achieves extraordinary value for your entire organization!
